I was able to get Mike’s portrait during his son’s senior portrait session last fall. Spring seems to have arrived in full force this morning here in Spokane so I’m not going to waste any time and try and get out shoot some today: hooray for spring!

I had the pleasure of shooting Scott’s senior photos last fall. I’d say more but since I am back in school and it’s finals week I’m going to go study and/or collapse a little bit: happy Sunday!

Nikki is probably my most reluctant portrait model to date: we’ve made multiple attempts at getting her portrait (particularly since I already have the rest of her little family) but we’d not been successful previously. She always managed to move just outside my narrow depth of field, or couldn’t stay in front of the camera any longer when we hadn’t gotten the shot yet. I’m glad that I stuck with it though as I am really happy with this one and I hope she is too.

One of my favorite photos from a very special senior photo session™ last August. I had recently scanned in her baby portrait from nearly 18 years ago before heading out to shoot her. She’s turned into a delightful and spunky young woman and I am terribly terribly old now.
Since I often find myself in completely in my head and over critical of my work, my ideas or other photographers and their ideas which is why I found Allen Murabayashi’s rant on PetaPixel refreshing: there is a lot going on out there and a lot of it is amazing! I need to make more amazing things too: Less whinging, more winging it!
Trampas is one of the all around nicest people I have had the pleasure of knowing. He is simply all around awesome. Plus he does a great cover of Cohen on the ukelele.

I’ve known Lauren since before she was knee high which is why it was such a pleasure to drive over to Index, Washington to take her senior photos in the national park there. The weather that day was perfect for a hike into the mountains with some minimal gear and we only fell in the river once (and that was at the end of the shoot too).

College friend Ginnie is local teacher and director in Portland. I was really happy with this day’s collection of portraits: the house I was shooting in had wonderful natural light and everyone (no matter who I ambushed) was so very accomodating about being shanghaied into surprise portraits…

Ryan was a college colleague who came to a little reunion barbecue and was immediately hijacked and thrown in front of a camera. You cannot tell at all: Thanks Ryan!
In related news: myself and my portrait taking show will be on the road to Denver again President’s Day Weekend. The schedule is tight (and currently somewhat unformed) but if I haven’t taken your portrait there I’d love to try. Just drop me a line.
